‘I’ll know when the time’s right’

A recent study by the University of Oxford found that women are less likely to ask for a raise than men, but when they do, they are more likely to receive it.

When tomorrow starts without me is a short story written by Neil Gaiman. The story’s main character, an unnamed narrator, has spent his life waiting for the moment when he will be able to leave his mundane life behind and embark on a journey of discovery.

Tom Brady, the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has said that he plans to play until he is 45 years old. The Buccaneers have given Brady, 44, a chance to achieve that objective by signing him to a four-year contract extension that basically amounts to a one-year agreement to play for the team for two more years, including this season. Brady seemed to have a change of heart about his retirement during an interview with NBC Sports’ Peter King. When questioned about retiring, Brady stated, “I’ll know when the time is perfect.”

Brady said that if he does not believe he is a championship-level quarterback, he would not play. “I mean, no way if I’m a burden to the squad. But I’ll play if I believe I can win a championship,” Brady said.

Brady is still in great shape.

Despite playing with a ruptured MCL in his knee, Brady passed for 4,633 yards and 40 touchdowns with 12 interceptions in the regular season and added 1061 yards and three touchdowns with three interceptions in four postseason games. With a 31-9 victory over the then-defending champion Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV, Brady helped the Buccaneers complete the season with eight consecutive victories en route to their first Super Bowl championship since 2002.

Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht has said that Brady has earned the right to play as long as he wants. However, although Brady seems to be willing to play beyond 45, don’t anticipate him to play until he’s 50. Brady previously said that 50 years is a long time in an interview. “50? That’s a significant amount of time. In an earlier interview with Jori Epstein of USA Today, Brady said, “Even for me, that’s a long time.”

Marshall Faulk, a Hall of Fame running back, has previously urged Brady to play until he is 55 years old, adding, “This is a kid’s game.”

Arians is optimistic about the Buccaneers’ offensive line.

The Buccaneers only managed 366 total yards and 10 points in their first two preseason games, but that’s reasonable given that the starting offense only played six plays.

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians utilized the reserves in their defeat to the Tennessee Titans to evaluate their depth, particularly on the offensive line. All 22 starters from last season’s Super Bowl-winning team have returned, including five offensive line starters and top backups Josh Wells and Aaron Stinnie. After the Titans game, Arians praised Stinnie, Wells, and first-year guys Nick Leverett and Brad Seaton for their efforts. Arians stated, “Those guys showed me last night that we have excellent solid depth there.”

Jonathan Hubbard, a lineman, has been signed by the Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers signed lineman Jonathan Hubbard, who spent last season on the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad, after reducing their roster to 80 players on Sunday.

Following a string of injuries to their offensive line, the Buccaneers have signed four offensive linemen since August 12, including guard Earl Watford and tackles Jake Benzinger and Brandon Walton.
